Mark Hocutt as an artist

We enter the month of October swapping out canvas for some sheet metal. Mark Anthony Hocutt is a painter and automotive designer from Whittier, CA. Influenced by Whittier’s heritage and lowrider history, he brings the art of custom car building into a new generation of paint layering and pattern making.

With full consideration of fundamental lowrider design techniques, Mark strives to create more unique patterns on his builds, providing a more contemporary take on the classic scene. Heralded by some, resisted by others, he often finds himself standing out in a crowd where ‘safe vs inventive’ aesthetics are at the center of all critiques. Mark favors the bold and sees each vehicle as a broad canvas for ingenuity, limited only by drive.
